Civilian childcare professionals employed through the Department of the Air Force Child and Youth Programs provide trusted, high-quality care for children and youth of military and civilian personnel. These professionals enable service members to focus on their mission by offering reliable support for their families, from early childhood through youth programs.
At the Department of the Air Force’s (DAF) Child and Youth Program, our mission is to support military and civilian personnel in harmonizing the vital demands of their mission and family life. We are dedicated to providing programs and services that foster the development and well-being of our youngest military members, from 3 months to 18 years old. Child and Youth Program Assistants from entry-level to upper management are mission-critical and always in high demand, thanks to the Direct Hiring Authority.
Positions may be funded through appropriated funds by Congress (APF) or non-appropriated funds (*NAF). Benefits and pay vary depending on the type of funding for the position.
*NAF is not included in the Direct Hiring Authority. Permanent resident cardholders are eligible for NAF positions.
