Public Affairs (PA) professionals play a critical role in supporting U.S. Air Force and Space Force operations worldwide. During your development period, you’ll work side-by-side with U.S. Air Force and Space Force professionals, providing trusted counsel to senior leaders and decision-makers.

You’ll help develop command information strategies and products, enhance and support Airman and Guardian morale and readiness, strengthen the bonds between military communities and the American people, and leverage the power of information in support of global influence and deterrence.

Participants are eligible for tuition assistance for graduate studies, all while earning a full salary and benefits. Completion of the program can lead to a permanent PA specialist position with AFCS.

CAREER PATHS

Civilian Public Affairs positions exist at every Air Force and Space Force installation in the continental United States, as well as Germany, Italy, Japan, Hawaii, and Alaska. Positions range from base level accomplishing myriad missions in support of commander objectives to major command and AF Headquarters positions focused on developing and implementing enterprise-level policies and programs.

PAQ QUALIFICATIONS

  • U.S. citizenship

  • Recent graduate (within two years of completing degree or within six years if a Veteran) or full-time undergraduate/graduate student graduating during current semester

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Public Affairs, Strategic Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or related fields

  • GPA 2.95 or above

  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance funded by Department of Air Force (e.g., Background check)

PAQ PROGRAM DETAILS

  • Promotion to the next grade after first year of successful performance

  • Promotion to next grade and placement into a permanent Air Force Civilian Service position upon successful completion of the program
