The Department of the Air Force safety career field is one of the most competitive and varied career fields situated at the management level in support of the Commander’s Safety program. As a safety professional, you will work with other team members to focus on assessing and implementing safety measures that increase combat power through risk management, training, and analysis.

Throughout your PAQ internship, you’ll work shoulder to shoulder with other safety professionals in various safety disciplines (aviation, occupational, weapons, space, engineering, and missiles) on meaningful and rewarding real-world challenges while gaining invaluable hands-on experience. You’ll have the opportunity to sharpen your knowledge and skills as well as build on your leadership potential through a comprehensive and accelerated development program. Upon successful completion of the program, the PALACE ACQUIRE Program offers a permanent position at Air Force Civilian Services, making it a great way to start your professional career.

Safety and Occupational Health Specialist   |    Safety Engineer

PAQ Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Recent graduate (within two years of completing degree or within six years if a Veteran)
  • Safety and Occupational Health Specialist: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Safety/Occupational Health/Industrial Hygiene or related fields that includes or supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, or industrial psychology
  • Safety Engineer: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
  • GPA 2.95 or above
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance funded by the Department of the Air Force (e.g., Background check)
