As an Air Force civilian pilot simulator instructor, you’ll share your flying prowess, knowledge, and years of experience with the next generation of pilots, empowering them to own the skies.

By contributing your exceptional skill and know-how in the patriotic defense of the nation, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the air superiority of the Air Force remains unrivaled anywhere.

You’ll guide student pilots from the classroom to the flight line, working shoulder to shoulder with active-duty Airmen, training new pilots, and retraining experienced flyers in the latest systems and newest tactics and technology.

AFCS simulator instructors are pilots in every sense of the word.

If you’re a pilot or former pilot and meet the following criteria, landing one of these coveted positions could be a cinch.

The U.S. Air Force flies the most sophisticated aircraft on the planet. Our pilots are second to none. Their skills and abilities are unmatched anywhere. They are the best because they’ve learned from the best there is.

We require them to have, at a minimum:

  • 1,500 total flight hours as a pilot or a copilot in a fixed-wing aircraft
  • 250 hours pilot and command time
  • 500 hours as a flight instructor
  • 75 hours of night flying
  • 75 hours of instrument flying, including 10 hours in instrument conditions
  • Approved medical evaluation
  • Up-to-date civilian or military flight logs
  • If applicable, DD214 military service records
  • 1,500 total flight hours as a pilot or a copilot in a fixed-wing aircraft
  • 250 hours pilot and command time
  • 500 hours as a flight instructor
  • 75 hours of night flying
