The U.S. Air Force Civil Engineering Career Field encompasses a variety of occupations beyond traditional civil engineers, including architects, realty specialists, housing managers, environmental professionals, financial managers, biologists, firefighters, electricians, and more.

These Civil Engineering professionals are responsible for the Air Force’s largest weapon system—its installations. As critical members of our team, Civil Engineers provide diverse expertise and leadership needed to secure our nation’s defense.

During your PCIP internship, you will work shoulder to shoulder with current AFCS Civilian Engineers on challenging and rewarding projects, where you will make real contributions and gain invaluable real-world experience. You may qualify for a permanent full-time position in our PALACE Acquire (PAQ) program once you complete your degree.

QUALIFICATIONS & ELIGIBILITY

  • U.S. citizenship required

  • Full-time undergraduate student (completed a minimum of 60 credits as an undergraduate) or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university

  • Pursuing a BS/MS in Engineering, Architecture, or other related fields

  • GPA 2.95 or above and in good academic standing

  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance (funded by USAF)

POTENTIAL TO TRANSITION TO FULL-TIME PALACE ACQUIRE (PAQ) INTERN PROGRAM AFTER GRADUATING

  • A formal 2-year training and career development track

  • Real-world projects and missions

  • Mentoring provided by AFCS Civil Engineers

  • Annual performance-based promotions while in the PAQ program

  • Placement into a permanent AFCS professional-level Civil Engineering position once the PAQ program is successfully completed

Therefore, to the extent a Federal job announcement includes the requirement that applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 pursuant to E.O. 14043, that requirement does not currently apply. Federal agencies may request information regarding the vaccination status of selected applicants for the purposes of implementing other workplace safety protocols, such as protocols related to masking, physical distancing, testing, travel, and quarantine.
